So wedding season is ROCKIN’ and we are having the best time! We always say this but we mean it – we have the BEST clients! This month we have had some of the best adventures yet – arriving at one of our weddings via HELICOPTER, a Game of Thrones engagement session, more awesome families in our Bully Family Project, and to top it all off, we ended the month of May by witnessing our bride and groom, along with their bridesmaids, plunge into a pool – full wedding attire still on! Our jobs give us never ending fun and we are so blessed to do what we do.
Which brought us to thinking about todays blog. We have so much fun with the wedding planning process, but too often people dread it, and that just shouldn’t be! We have written posts about how the bride and groom can enjoy the process more, but now we want to focus on the bridal party. Yes, you have a big job and yes, you may find yourself with tasks that you may find mundane, BUT, you also have the chance to show your friend/sister/brother/cousin how much you love them and are happy for their happiness. Today’s blog focuses on how to throw a non-typical (aka, not boring) bridal shower that will be remembered by the soon to be wed and all the guests a like.
Who doesn’t love brunch? Not to mention this is one of the most elegant yet simple ways to celebrate. Start with some personalized coffees with labels specially made for the couple (see examples here…and know that these do double duty; those not used at the shower go home with your guests as favors!) and create a brunch buffet of mini quiche, muffins, bagels with several cream cheese options, mini-yogurt and granola parfaits and assorted salads. Pepper the spread with wedding themed goodies, like these ‘bling’ donuts:
Top it off with a mimosa bar, and personalize the champagne bottles with some chalkboard paint that all guests sign:
Have a bride that loves to scrapbook? Or just simply loves to capture all moments? Decorate with balloons scattered throughout, each with a different photo tied to the bottom. This idea is a great way to get all guests involved; ask all guests to send photos in with their RSVP’s to be used, and it also works as a great conversation starter; as guests look at all the photos they can talk about the ones they contributed, where it was from, etc.
Also, set up a photobooth!! These are NOT just for the wedding! Guests love these, and they not only create a great scrapbook for the bride, they are a great way for guests to get to know each other and have fun.
Know a bride who’s a cowgirl at heart? Give her a bridal shower hootenanny worthy of her gettin’ hitched! Find a pair of white boots in her size for everyone to sign with well wishes, decorate with daisies and horseshoes:

provide her with a ‘veil’ to match the rest of the decor:
And extra kudos if you hire a country line dance teacher to teach you a few line dances to show off at the wedding!
Honeymoon Pre-Vow Preview:
Know where the couple will be honeymooning? Incorporate some of that into their theme! For a couple honeymooning in Paris, pick a menu of crepes and sandwiches on croissant. Headed to Mexico? Serve a buffett of fajitas and enchiladas, maybe with a margarita bar on the side, and give the bride to be a bridal sombrero:
Top it off with a cake that gives nod to their travels, like this:
Whatever it is, ENJOY the process, and all the fun that comes with this special time. Your friend/sister/cousin/brother will appreciate all the thought you put in to making this day so much fun!
