As part of our ongoing personal work BG Bully Family Project we will be posting a selection of photos from each session.
We will also be donating 50% of Any sales that results from prints, wall art, or usb’s of full session to Pinups for Pitbulls to aid in the education of how Awesome these dogs are!! About the project….
We have a passion for rescue work and a passion for photographing people, places, and things and telling their story! So we are embarking on a personal project to help end the negative stereotypes of Bully Breed dogs!! We thought what better way then to show these beautiful dogs being loved on and loving the humans that saved them- especially those with children!! With the negative stereotypes people think these dogs aren’t good for homes with small kids! Well these families would disagree! We also wanted to showcase families that are also discriminated against and face stereotypes- people with tattoos! I LOVE photographing beautiful INK!!! and i LOVE LOVE dogs!! so follow along on our journey as we try to dispel a lot of myths!!

this family couldn’t be any cuter! . Alicia, Mike, and Kendall were Awesome. While it wasn’t really easy to get all 3 dogs and 2 adults and a small human to all cooperate at the same time- I think we were able to really capture this family with a good representation!!!

Here is what Alicia had to say about them and why they wanted to be a part of this special project

  • Trouble: My first pit bull and rescue dog, he changed my life. He was adopted from a shelter 8 years ago between 3-5 years old. He opened my eyes to the plight of pitties in shelters, and what amazing dogs they are. I also made a career change, after adopting him I went back to school to be a Vet Tech, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. He is a total couch potato, LOVES car rides and going to the vet. He has dealt with many foster dogs coming in and out, as well as his 2 adopted pitty sisters, 5 cats, and a toddler. He was diagnosed with Lymphoma just before Christmas, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. This project is coming at an amazing time, as I am not sure how much longer he will be with us, and I relish any special opportunities for him (a few great pictures of him and Kendall certainly won’t hurt either!).
  • Bambi: Adopted from ACCT (she was in foster care) 6 years ago as an 8-10 month old puppy. Trouble chose her as his sister. We did 6 other dog meets before choosing Bambi. She had an extremely terrible start to life, she was an emaciated 14 lbs at 6 months of age (she now weighs close to 70 lbs). The shelter staff thought she was a young puppy until they realized she had her adult teeth. She was completely unsocialized and had extreme fear of people. We worked very hard at trying to bring her out of her shell, with obedience classes and taking her everywhere (I worked at a doggie daycare at the time and she came to work with me). She never got over her fear of strangers. She still cowers when someone new approaches her. In our home however, she is amazing. She loves her family with a deepness most can’t understand, and is the most loyal dog I have ever had. She is a mama at heart, and is often found cuddling or cleaning one of the other animals (or my child).
  • Capri: Failed foster. She came to us as a 10-12 week old puppy 2 years ago. She was found as a stray somewhere in Philly, and taken to ACCT. Harley’s Haven Dog Rescue (run by my bosses) pulled her, and we decided to foster her. After about 2 weeks, it was apparent that she had found her forever home (even though we were NOT in the market to adopt a 3rd dog!). Trouble and Bambi absolutely adored her, and when faced with giving her up, we knew we just couldn’t do it. She has boundless energy and a soft heart, and not a mean bone in her body. Her and Kendall will grow up together. Why do you want to be a part of this project?
    • Any good publicity rescued pitties can get is always awesome! I also try to take any opportunity for mine to be breed advocates.
