A List of Philly ‘Must Do’s

We love to travel (as you can see! Did you see our photos from Hawaii? Amaaaaaazing trip!) but we also LOVE our city and all that it offers – especially during the summer! So this post is dedicated to all the amazing things Philly is offering right now, that will end once fall enters, and you most certainly do not want to miss…(remember, one of our hints in our August To’Do’s blog post was to rest up in August and take a little time to just enjoy:

Spruce Street Harbor Park has so much going on, and has been enjoyed by thousands already.  Enjoy a plethora of food options provided by the rotating food trucks (everything from simple water ice to gourmet Garces catering is available!), sip on a selection of craft beers supplied by Yards Brewing Company and swing in a hammock in the Hayneedle Hammock Lounge.  You can also rent a kayak, canoe or swan boat through the Paddle Penn’s Landing program, or take a scenic RiverLink Ferry ride to visit destinations on both sides of the river.  Then stroll through the Punk Rock Flea Market selling vintage items, local crafts, used records, recycled bicycles, jewelry and lots more.

Waterfront concerts are abounding as well, throughout the Delaware River Waterfront and Penn’s Landing. The waterfront is featuring Social Distortion and Twenty One Pilots, while Penn’s Landing is doing more jazz, gospel and R&B tunes.

Penn’s Landing is also featuring screenings of movies under the stars on Thursday evenings (coming up…Cinderella and Guardian of the Galaxy!!!) that are family friendly.

Point Breeze Pop Up Beer Garden is up and running on Saturdays (much to L&I’s dismay).  They are serving up an array of craft brews and offering food from local food trucks that flank their ‘beer garden.’  Due to the back and forth with licensing their website is down, but they ARE there on weekends and are worth the trip.  Look them up on facebook for their most up to date posts.

Afraid you missed Restaurant Week? You didn’t!  Night Out Restaurant Week is back from August 21st-30th throughout the neighborhoods of Penn’s Landing, Fishtown and Northern Liberties.  Snag yourself a 3 course meal for around $25 (some restaurants are less!) at some of Philly’s finest.

And, to power up for all of this, Saxbys is offering free ice coffee every Friday until the end of summer! Check out their newest location at 11th and Locust, and then take the city by storm!

Love Summer! Love our City!  Love Life!!
