Take the No Straw Challenge with BG Productions

You may have seen this video from Buzzfeed floating around Youtube and Facebook lately. I’m so happy to see that it’s going viral and a lot of people are jumping on board with the no straw challenge! But it’s not new information and unfortunately not a new problem. And a big BIG effort needs to be made widespread for a favorable impact. So will you take the no straw challenge with BG?

Hats off to the folks over at Buzzfeed for sharing environmental issues in addition to their super entertaining blog content. They are totally taking a stand and they have recently published a number of blog posts on the subject. There is a TON of information out there about plastics and how they are detrimental to out little-ol’ home we call Planet Earth. Don’t take our word for it, go do some research for yourself. If you’ve been living under a rock (or perhaps a heap of plastic and other pollutants) it will only help educate you and probably scare you a little.

But we’re not here to be a bunch of Negative Nellies and lecture you. We’re here to tell you that you can be a part of the solution! One little itty bitty no-brainer thing you can do is just say no! Are you getting a flash back to elementary school and the D.A.R.E program? They still have that right? I’m taking about just saying no thank you to straws. You don’t need them. Period.

But if you need to sip on something there are a lot of awesome alternatives. There are paper straws, metal straws and even glass! Check out Simply Straws – these gals are doing amazing things. Also, how cute are these straws? Carry one around in your purse or keep one in your car. You will be taking a big step in the right direction in eliminating some of the future plastic waste that will end up on the streets and inevitably in the ocean. Those cute seas turtles will thank you.

Go Green with BG Productions!

We are super Proud to be Green. It also carries over into our everyday lives and we really do anything that we can. Convenience can only get you so far and at what price? Don’t we want the planet to survive for future generations?

Well we want to reward our current and future clients for going green too! You can take our tips on How to Green Your Wedding and apply what you can to your own wedding day. You can even make one very simple switch while taking the no straw challenge with us and don’t use ANY straws at your wedding! Not even those little cocktail straws. Tell your wedding venue that you don’t want any plastic straws (or plates or anything like that while you’re at it!). Tell us you’re doing that or if we see it for ourselves we will gift you 2 FREE 11×14 prints from your wedding!

What wedding photographer has ever offered that? We may be the first, but that’s totally ok. Hopefully we will start a trend here. Not local to Philadelphia but love what we’re doing? Also totally ok! Because we LOVE to travel and we can come to you. We would love to hear from you if you’re planning your green wedding or even just making this small step with us.

Love the no straw movement! This challenge is a high-five to our planet and its sea life. I carry my stainless steel straw or my reusable cold drink cup with me for this bery reason. Good for BG Productions for bringing this to our attention and for making the no straw challenge more visible.

This is such a great idea! I’ve had wedding clients who go strawless, but never thought of providing an incentive to do so! I love how your activism and social awareness informs your business practices. We need more green weddings and businesses. Bravo!

Yes! I love this! I’m going to stop buying my kiddos the plastic straws and go paper! More fun designs that way anyway!

I absolutely LOVE this! #STOPSUCKING is amazing. There is no need for plastic straws and I love the idea of glass straws! I think a great wedding favor idea would be to have everyone take their glass straw home from their wedding reception and keep reusing it. Everyone can help change the world with little choices like saying NO to a plastic straw!
